ABOUT US
To say that Kathy and John have been friends for a very long time is a bit of an understatement. They met some 45 years ago in Arlington, Texas when John was a student at the University of Texas at Arlington, and Kathy had recently graduated from Brigham Young University and had just moved to Texas to visit extended family. Kathy was instrumental in helping introduce John to the LDS Church. After a somewhat rocky introduction, they quickly became fast friends, and over the years have shared a common passion for science fiction and fantasy, (particularly Dr. Who), and in fact, all things British.
Kathy has always had a bit of wanderlust and since the earliest days of their friendship traveled to the four corners of the world pursuing adventure! The daughter of H. Eugene Boswell and Elizabeth Hill, she is a native of Portland, Oregon, but from old Utah pioneer stock. Kathy has lived and worked all over the United States including Virginia, Maryland, Vermont, Colorado, Texas, and Utah. She worked on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, and later worked with governors and legislators on public policy and higher education across the United States. She led humanitarian projects in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Most recently she returned after spending 18 months serving a volunteer service mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Prague, Czech Republic.
John, the son of Patricia and Larry Pennock, was an “army brat” who attended 7 schools before he was 18. He was born in Georgia, but Texas has been home for most of his life. After his conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, John served a mission to Scotland. With his instinctive gift of being able to fix about anything, John is an inveterate tinkerer and inventor, who loves nothing more than designing a new autonomous robot that can help search and rescue operations in difficult terrains. John relocated to Utah several years ago, and presently works in the worldwide operations center managing computer networks for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is the father of two sons and a daughter, and a proud grandpa to five darling granddaughters.
The sudden blossoming of a decades-long friendship into something much deeper and eternal was totally unexpected, but has brought much happiness and joy to both Kathy and John. They are very excited to share their lives together and deeply appreciate the love and support of friends and family who are helping to celebrate this important milestone in their lives.
